Ashcroft Applauds New U.S. Attorney for St. Louis

May 25, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

The U.S. Senate has confirmed President Clinton’s nominee for U.S. Attorney for St. Louis. And Senator John Ashcroft couldn’t be happier. Audrey Fleissig had been serving in an interim capacity prior to yesterday’s Senate vote. Ashcroft says Fleissig is a firm believer in “Project Ceasefire,” which cracks down on criminals using guns while carrying out their crimes. He says similar programs have worked elsewhere and will certainly help crime fighting efforts in St. Louis. In additon, the federal Justice Department has come up $300,000 for the “Project Ceasefire” effort in St. Louis.
