Small Town in the Grip of Big Politics

May 23, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Political turmoil grows in Waynesville as the mayor becomes more outspoken in her criticism of the Police Chief’s race for Pulaski County Sheriff. Mayor Lorel Rigsby says she’s very concerned about Police Chief Don McCulloch’s activities.Though Rigsby shies from saying she has been trying to get him fired, she has said his activities warrant dismissal and while she can’t fire him, she’s putting pressure on the city manager to do so. A scheduled city council meeting has been postponed, because of the dispute.
