Two of the men who want to be the next Governor of Missouri attach a lot of importance to the state’s roads but they differ on how to pave the way to highway heaven. Republican Congressman Jim Talent wants to breathe new life into the abandoned 15-year plan for Missouri’s highways. Democrat Bob Holden, the state treasurer, believes in alternatives to the 15-year plan, fearing that proposal would leave the state with a budget shortfall by the year 2011.
