Six children, holed up in a southwest Missouri home for four days, have given up peacefully. The six gave up when grandfather Gordon Winrod, accused of kidnapping them in North Dakota, agreed to talk them out. The State Highway Patrol spent four days negotiating to get the children to come out of the basement. The six are the grandchildren of a pastor who preaches hatred of the Jews as the head of the Our Savior’s Church and Latin School in Gainesville since 1964. Winrod and two of his children were arrested Wednesday morning as they picked up the mail. But the children fled to the house and ran to the basement, apparently as they had been taught. Winrod is accused of kidnapping the children from their North Dakota homes.
