Kansas City Wizards goaltender Tony Meola registered his fifth consecutive shutout, as the Wizards blanked defending MLS champ D.C. United, 2-0. The game was scoreless until Kerry Zavagnin scored off a set play in the 73rd minute. Zavagnin took a pass from Preki and scored from 30 yards out. Miklos Molnar scored the other goal for the Wizards, who are now 8-0-2, the best record in the MLS. Meola has not allowed a goal in his last 525 minutes.
