Southwest Missouri State won its opener at the Missouri Valley tournament. The Bears, trying to rebound from a disappointing regular season, knocked off Evansville 9-4. SMS’ Ryan Howard hit a pair of two-run homers. The Bears play second seed Indiana State this afternoon in Wichita, Kansas.
