The McCormick Distillery Company in Weston has admitted falsifying records on the export of liquor to eastern Europe and Russia. The company has pleaded guilty to a federal charge and will pay one-million dollars in restitution. New York television station WPIX reports the distillery colored the alcohol to make it look like other things, shipped it to Russia and Ukraine. The station says the coloring was removed after that by members of the Russian mafia, and the liquor was sold on the black market. A company lawyer says McCormick has never knowingly done business with organized crime.
