Another rally for the Royals, who beat the A’s 8-7. Starting pitcher Chad Durbin couldn’t get out of the first inning, leaving after allowing five runs. But the Royals chipped away, and chipped away, and tied the game in the seventh on Jorge Fabergas’ single. Fabergas struck again in the ninth, singling home two runs to give Kansas City the lead. Jerry Spradlin allowed a run in the bottom of the ninth, but got his second save. The teams meet again this afternoon in the rubber game of the series. Miguel Batista starts for the Royals against Omar Olivares.
