Questions arise over need; still the House approves the creation of an Agriculture Advocate within the State Department of Agriculture. Though the measure made it through the House, it died in the Senate on the last day of the session. Representative Dan Hegeman, a dairy farmer from Cosby, tells the sponsor it seems redundant. Despite such questions, the bill passes easily. The sponsor says the advocate would be a lawyer within the state department who would lobby on behalf of the family farmer. Though the House moved it to the Senate, the Senate failed to pick it up in time to pass the measure
