May 13, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

A nurse from Affton who has spent the last eleven years working to reduce the infant mortality rate has been awarded with a 100-thousand-dollar check from the Robert Wood Johnson foundation. She’s Sharon Rohrbach, the founder of Nurses for Newborns, who figures that her group has saved an average of 16 babies a year. Her group mostly serves low-income women. She says the average income of families her group helps is 500-dollars a month. Nurses for Newborns serves the St.Louis areas and about two dozen eastern Missouri counties.
