Telemarketing Bill Moves Forward in Legislature

May 11, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

An effort to keep your phone from ringing when you don’t want it to is put into position to pass as the legislative session nears the end. Some changes have been made that the Senate must consider to the bill that regulates telemarketers and would create a DO NOT CALL list.Representative Don Kissell of St. Peters sponsors the bill that outlines criteria telemarketers would have to follow when placing a call. The bill would allow Missourians to place their name on a list of those NOT wishing to be called by telemarketers. The House places that list in the hands of the Secretary of State, rather than the Attorney General as originally proposed. That’s a concern to Kissell who sees a duplication of service.
