Mizzou, Illinois to Meet on Gridiron

May 11, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Mizzou’s “braggin’ rights” game with Illinois always draws huge basketball crowds in St. Louis. Now the two schools will renew their rivalry in football. The Tigers and the Illini will play one another at the dome in St. Louis in 2002 and 2003. New NCAA rules will allow schools to play twelve games in each of those seasons, which made it easier to schedule this game. The most recent meetings between Missouri and Illinois came in a four game series from 1991 to 1994. The teams split those games, with the home team winning each time. An official announcement about two upcoming games is expected Friday in St. Louis.
