Midwestern Tel phone company shuts door

A local telephone company in Crestwood appears to have gone out of business without telling anybody. Employees of Midwestern Tel have found the office doors locked. Customers get recordings. The company’s adminstrative office is closed and locked. One customer says he got a message on his answering machine that Midwestern Tel is switching his service to Southwestern Bell. A spokesman for Southwestern Bell says that company has heard nothing from Midwestern Tel.
