Child Advocates Push Tobacco Bills

May 9, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Advocates for children hope lawmakers find a way to approve two major tobacco bills before time runs out Friday night. The bills will help determine how the state will spend the billions of dollars in could get from the national tobacco settlement. Executive Director Beth Griffin with the Citizens for Missouri’s Children says part of the money will be focused on prevention and intervention for children. The tobacco legislation is tied up in internal political disputes in the House and Senate.
