Here’s an indication of how sudden the rivers rose during the heavy rains in Franklin and Jefferson counties this weekend. The National Weather Service says the Bourbeuse River at Union crested at 2.6-feet above flood stage yesterday morning. It’s already below flood stage now…and will be 13-feet below floodstage by next Saturday. The Big River at Byrnesville was almost six and a half feet over flood stage yesterday evening, but by tomorrow will have dropped 20 feet and will barely have water in it by next Saturday.
