Golf Club Thief Sentenced

May 5, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

A former pro golfer has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for stealing 100-thousand dollars in cash and golf clubs from a shop in Clay County. The prosecutor wanted the big sentence for Richard Meissner Junior because he had previous convictions for bank robbery and theft, and because he used a gun in the golf shop robbery. Meissner is appealing. He says he was in Florida at the time of the robbery, but during his trial he could not produce receipts he claims provide an alibi.
