Elephant Moving to Amusement Park in California

May 4, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

The Dickerson Park Zoo in Springfield is moving a two-year-old male elephant to an amusement park in Vallejo, California, despite objections from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Zoo officials say PETA has its facts all wrong, and ignores reality, in making a public plea against the move. The zoo says it’s hard to place male elephants because they get mean as they get older…and that it’s best to do it when they’re young. The zoo also says its efforts to save the Asian elephant are not hampered by the move.
