The air force has brushed aside Boeing’s offer to sell it sixty more C-17 cargo planes for nine billion dollars. The air force says it did not solicit the offer, that the planes are too expensive, and the proposal is vague. About two-thousand people in St. Louis are involved in building C-17s. Boeing is about halfway done with an order for 120 of the planes. The last one in that order is expected to be built in four years.
