“A country awash in fraud.” That’s the statement made by the regional director of the Federal Trade Commission appearing with Senator Ashcroft at a speaking engagement with senior citizens in Columbia. Ashcroft says bilking the elderly has become all too common. He especially decries the use of a scam called recovery rooms. The meeting re-emphasizes an old precaution: if it appears too good to be true it almost certainly is.
