The Royals are happy to be home. They snapped a 9-game losing streak by winning thier fifth straight at Kauffman, beating Tampa Bay 7-6. And again, the Royals scored in their final at-bat to win. Devil Ray pitcher Albie Lopez’ throwing error allowed Carlos Beltran to score from second with the winning run. The Royals rallied from a 5-1 deficit to take a 6-5 lead into the 9th inning. Instead of going with struggling closer Ricky Bottalico, Tony Muser stuck with Dan Reichert. Reichert gave up a solo homer to Greg Vaughn to tie the game. It was the only hit Reichert allowed in 3 and 2/3 innings. Jermaine Dye was 4 for 5 with three RBI and his league-leading 9th home run. Joe Randa also homered for Kansas City. Tonight, rookie Chad Durbin will pitch for the Royals against Tampa’s Ryan Rupe.
