Kansas City’s bullpen blows another lead, but for the 4th straight day, the Royals offense gets the save. The Royals squandered a 5-nothing lead against the Orioles, with closer Ricky Bottalico giving up the tying run in the top of the 9th. But Carlos Beltran singled home the winning run in the bottom of the 9th, and the Royals win again, beating Baltimore, 6-5. It’s the fourth consecutive game the Royals have won in their final at-bat. Rey Sanchez singled to start the ninth, and Johnny Damon sacrificed. After a walk to Carlos Febles, Beltran won the game. Bottalico has now blown two of three save opportunities, but he has gotten the win both times. Rey Sanchez had three hits and an RBI, Mike Sweeney hit his 6th homer of the season. Starter Jeff Suppan blanked the Orioles for seven innings, before getting knocked out in the O’s 4-run 8th. Kansas City embarks on a nine-game road trip, starting tonight at Yankee Stadium.
