Boonville city council wants Isle of Capri casino

April 11, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

The Boonville City council says it’s going to go with a bid from the Isle of Capri to buy the still-unbuilt Victorian Star casino, although Isle of Capri traditionally designs casinos that don’t match Missouri’s presumed standard of casinos that look like old riverboats. The original owner of the casino franchise for Boonville, Davis Gaming, never has explained why it has backed out of its deal with the city. Casino owner Bill Grace, who has a casino in St. Joseph, still wants to put a casino across the Missouri River from Boonville. He says he’ll take his case to the state gaming commisson, despite the city council’s action.
