Kansas City YWCA in financial trouble

April 10, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Kansas City’s YWCA is facing the shutdown of some or all of the 14 child care facilities it runs. The “Y” is short of cash. The shortage was not discovered until after a bookkeeper left. Emergency funds have been sought from the Kansas City United Way, but the United Way instead cancelled its regular contribution to the organization because of chronic financial problems. More than 650 children are served in those YWCA daycare facilities in Kansas City.
