A couple of southwest Missouri counties have unemployment rates of almost three and five times the state average. The figures for February peg the statewide adjusted average at 2.6 percent, but Stone and Taney counties are at 15 and 16 percent. State labor analyst Bill Niblack says it’s the season. He says March and April figures show big improvements as tourism attractions reopen.
