Enough dry cleaning fluid has gotten into public water supplies in Missouri that a special fund is being set up to clean up the mess. The Senate has advanced legislation putting taxes on the chemicals used in dry cleaning, with the money being used to clean up spills that endanger the environment. Operators of the businesses who think some of their chemicals might have contaminated land and water can report the problem to the state and for a fee of 25-thousand dollars escape further liability.
