Brush fires in the Eureka and St. Clair area have burned at least a quarter-section of woodland. Firefighters say the blaze started when two people started burning tree stumps in their back yard. Winds of about 25 miles an hour grabbed the fire and spread it. More brush fires are reported in the Ozarks…where winds spread fires in more than a half-dozen counties were fought. Arson is being blamed for some of the fires, which were spread by gusty winds.
