It’s only two games, but so far 2000 is looking no better than 1999 for the Royals. Kansas City is oh for the season after falling to Toronto 6-3. Royals pitchers are getting burned by the long ball. Toronto hit two more home runs off starting pitcher Jay Witasick. Jose Cruz hit one, as did Shannon Stewart, who now has three home runs in two days. Witasick allowed five hits and five runs in five innings, and was knocked out by Darrin Fletcher’s two run double in the sixth that snapped a 3-3 tie. Jermaine Dye homered in a losing effort for Kansas City. The Royals are 0-2, and will try again for win number one when they send Jose Rosado to the mound tonight against Toronto’s Cris Carpenter.
