"The Scout" statue in Kansas City in need of restoration

April 4, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

A statue that is often used as a symbol for Kansas City and some of its businesses has fallen prey to time and vandals…but efforts are underway to find money to restore it. The statue, called “The Scout,” shows an indian astride his horse, gazing over Kansas City from a hill in Penn Valley Park. It was bought with nickels and dimes raised by Kansas City school children, and was installed in 19-22. Restoration costs are estimated at 17-thousand-500 dollars.
