Teamsters union rejects Associated Wholesale Grocers offer

April 4, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Associated Wholesale Grocers’ latest offer to angry teamsters has been slapped aside by the Union. Associated is offering to let teamsters lease trucks for 100-dollars a month, for two years. After that the company would give the drivers the trucks and they could operate as independents. The teamsters union says accepting the deal would cost drivers their insurance, pensions and vacations…and furthermore, the trucks are old and worn out. The Union and Associated have been at odds since the company announced it would have another company handle its warehousing and transportation. The other company is non-union.
