Newspaper Reading Service Available for Blind

April 4, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Missourians who are blind or visually-impaired now can read a major daily newspaper using their telephone. State librarian Sara Parker says the NEWSLINE system uses computer-generated voices to read all or portions of the New York Times, Washington Post or USA Today. Local dailies will be added later. The service is available now in the St. Louis area and will soon be available in the Kansas City and Springfield areas. Applications for the service are available by calling the Wolfner Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped at 800-392-2614.
