More than 55-thousand Missourians enrolled in adult basic education classes during the last school year. That’s an increase of about ten percent from five years ago. Jon Warren, director of adult education for the state, says the tight labor market means employers are demanding better skills. Adult basic education programs are operated by 52 local school districts in Missouri, as well as community colleges and non-profit groups.
