Looking to fix the punting and kickoff problems that plagued them last year, the Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to a two-year contract with free-agent punter Todd Sauerbrun, who had spent the first five years of his NFL career with the Chicago Bears. Sauerbrun had a net average of 34.4 yards per punt last season and has a gross average of 42.2 yards in 66 career games. The West Virginia product has not had a punt blocked and has pinned 83 career punts inside the 20-yard line. The Chiefs went through five kickoff specialists last year. Jon Baker sent three kickoffs out of bounds in the Chiefs’ final game, an overtime loss to Oakland that knocked Kansas City from the playoffs. Sauerbrun will also serve as the team’s holder.
