Road Designated for Zack Wheat

March 23, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

The latest sports hero to get a piece of road named for him is Zack Wheat. Today’s baseball fans know about George Brett and Mark McGwire, for whom roads have been named recently. But Wheat is largely forgotten, although he’s in the Hall of Fame. Wheat was from Hamilton, an 18-year major leaguer, in the 20s, mostly. He still holds several Dodgers records. The road to be named for him will be part of Highway 13, in northwest Missouri’s Caldwell County, where he was born.
