A twice-convicted child molester released from custody by mistake has been caught in Lousiana. Kenneth Smith has sex abuse convictions from Lafayette and Jackson counties. He had completed his sentences, but was to have been held until a hearing could determine whether he should be moved to a mental hospital as a sexual predator. But he was released anyway. Now the prosecutor in Jackson County will try to get him back. He’s charged with failing to register as a sexual offender after his release.
