One of the House Budget Chairmen says the $17-Billion dollar budget approved in the House delivers for education. State Representative Scott Lakin of Kansas City bristles at suggestions by Republicans that Democrats haven’t placed enough emphasis on education. Lakin says education and higher education will receive $294-Million more in the budget for next year than they are receiving this year, under the spending bills approved in the House. The legislature is now on spring break next week. When they return the Senate will tackle the budget.
