Anti-Billboard Campaign Submits Signatures

March 21, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

A campaign committee that wants to stop the construction of new billboards along Missouri highways today submitted more than 130-thousand signatures to the Secretary of State’s office. Save Our Scenery director Karl Kruse says they hope to place an initiative before Missouri voters this November. He says there are more than 13-thousand billboards along Missouri highways, about three times more than our eight neighboring states. Kruse says the measure also would allow local governments to regulate billboards and prevent the billboard industry from cutting down trees on public right of ways.
