Too much North Carolina size doomed the Tigers to a first round ouster from the NCAA tournament. The Tar Heels beat Mizzou 84-70, behind a career high 28 points and 15 rebounds from 7-footer Brendan Haywood. Haywood hit 11 of 15 shots from the field against the undersized Tigers. Clarence Gilbert led Mizzou with 16 points, but shot just 4 for 15 from 3-point range. Keyon Dooling scored 13, but was 1 for 7 from behind the arc. Jeff Hafer was held scoreless in the final game of his Missouri career. The Tigers finish the season 18-13, giving coach Quin Snyder more wins than any first-year coach in Mizzou history.
