Of the four schools that won basketball titles Saturday, three were first-time winners. Only Monroe City has won before. The Panthers won their second girls 2A crown in the last three years, by beating John Burroughs 59-44. Whitfield won the boys 2A title in its first appearance at state. The Warriors beat Blair Oaks 74-59. In Class 1A boys, Jefferson drilled Billings 70-50 to win the championship for the first time.
