Nixon Asks Court to Uphold Limits

March 16, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Attorney General Jay Nixon hopes to close a loophole in the state law limiting campaign donations to political candidates. He’s asking the 8th US Circuit Court of Appeals to overturn a federal judge’s ruling this week that prevents enforcement of the law limiting the amount of donations political parties can give to candidates. Nixon says the donation limits are being challenged by the Missouri Republican Party. He says the US Supreme Court has spoken on this issue and any further delay is simply an attempt to circumvent the law and buy elections.
