Blues general manager Larry Pleau says he took a shot at making a trade before yesterday’s deadline, but hit the post. Pleau says he was indeed looking to make a deal, but wasn’t interested in minor tinkering with the Blues’ roster. He wasn’t able to find an impact player at a reasonable price, so he chose to stand pat with the team that has compiled the best record in the NHL. The Blues will try to further improve on that record tonight, when they travel to play Phoenix. Winger Tyson Nash and defenseman Jeff Finley are banged up, and may be held out tonight.
