A proposal requiring all new guns to be sold with trigger locks has been recommended for passage in the state Senate. The proposed law does not apply to guns already in circulation. But it would require trigger locks to be issued with all new guns sold. Backers point the numerous incidents of school shootings or of children shooting and killing other youngsters. Executive director Beth Griffin of Citizens for Missouri’s Children says the bill offers the hope of safety to children while not interfering with the rights of people to own guns.
