David Glass has been approved by the Royals as the team’s new owner. Glass’ bid of $96 million dollars has been accepted by the Royals board of directors, who chose that bid over the 110-million offered by Miles Prentice. Glass was hand-picked by former Royal owner Ewing Kauffman to be the next owner, before Kauffman’s death in 1993. Glass has served as the team’s chairman of the board since that time. Prentice had an earlier bid accepted by the Royals, but rejected by major league owners. That should not be a problem for Glass, who is respected among baseball owners.
