The NHL trading deadline passes at three o’clock this afternoon, but the Blues aren’t likely to make any major deals. The Blues have been playing so well, that GM Larry Pleau is hesitant to tinker with his team’s chemistry. Also, the Blues made their big deal a couple months before the deadline, picking up Stephane Richer, who has regained his scoring touch. The Blues did make a push to acquire defenseman Ray Bourque from Boston, but only because he is an immense talent who would definitely not disrupt the clubhouse. Those players are hard to find. If the Blues do make a move, they would likely try to add a defenseman, but with many contenders seeking help on defense, the price will probably be more than St. Louis wants to pay.
