Ozarks, Suburbs Grow During ’90s

March 13, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Missouri gained nearly 32-thousand new residents during 1999. State demographer Ryan Burson says natural growth, births minus deaths, accounted for about 20-thousand people…while 12-thousand more people moved into Missouri than moved out during the last year. During the last decade Missouri has gained more than 300-thousand new residents. Burson says the Ozarks and the suburban cities surrounding our major metropolitan areas experienced the most rapid growth during the nineties. On the other hand, a number of northern Missouri counties experienced a population decrease during the nineties.
