A Springfield man has been convicted of trying to run over a Highway Patrol trooper after a chase. But the jury refuses to convict Lloyd Sawyer of crashing his car into a patrol car while trying to get away from officers. Sawyer says he did not intend to hurt anybody…but he was trying to escape because he’d been drinking and didn’t want to be arrested. The jury recommends 15 years.
