Wildfires Controlled

Firefighters think about 16 homes have been destroyed by a series of Ash Wednesday fires in Camden and Laclede Counties. Firefighters suspect some of the fires are man-made. A fire in western Phelps county was so intense that smoke impeded driving on Interstate 44 for a time. The highway patrol reported overnight the fire was under control, but was still urging motorists to drive carefully through the area this morning.
