A company that wants to make sleds that can be used in the summer is getting some indirect financial help from the state. Modern Alpha Plastics of Independence is going to start producing a summer sled that has six wheels instead of runners. The company says it’s for use on grassy hills. The state has put almost 300-thousand dollars in a Kansas City bank, and will take lower-than-usual interest…while the bank loans money for the sled development to Modern Alpha Plastics. Modern Alpha says it will add a dozen employees for the project.
