Teamsters to Fight Springfield Grocery Stores

March 8, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Teamsters Union President James Hoffa is promising Associated Wholesale Grocers of Springfield will be in the fight of their life soon with the teamsters. Hoffa will lead a rally in Springfield today. Associated says it’s going to let outside companies handle its warehouse and transportation divisions after the teamsters contract expires April first. The company says it will save 43 million dollars with that move. Hoffa says it’s just another story of corporate greed. He says Associated reported 222-million dollars in net profits in 1998.
