A man convicted of two Kansas City murders in 19-83 has been ordered freed by the federal appeals court, unless the state puts him on trial again. The court says the prosecution used conflicting testimony from a witness to get several convictions in the case. Based on that testimony, the jury convicted Jon Keith Smith of helping kill Earl and Pauline Chambers during a burglary at their home.
