Firefighters are trying to control 18 brushfires this afternoon near theLake of the Ozarks and Truman Lake. Conservation department spokesman BrucePalmer says it’s tough to fight fires when it’s as windy as it istoday. He urges Missourians to refrain from burning outdoors until we get somesignificant rainfall. Authorities in Camdenton have evacuated residents along Lake Road 565 thisafternoon because of an approaching brushfire. Residents in the area arebeing told to go to the Camdenton High School until the danger passes.
